Daytime Sleepiness Assessment

The Multiple Sleep Latency Test [MSLT] objectively evaluates a person’s level of daytime sleepiness. This test includes the repeated measurement of sleep latency i.e. how quickly a person can fall asleep, across a span of a day via a series of 4 or sometimes 5 “nap tests” performed at regular intervals throughout the day.

The Maintenance of Wakefulness Test [MWT] objectively evaluates a person’s ability to stay awake during the day in non-active situations via a series of 4 [four] “trials” performed at regular intervals throughout the day by asking the patient to sit on a chair in a dimly lit room and try to remain awake for a period of 40 minutes.
